When applying online you will automatically receive email notifications about the progress of your application or you can log in anytime to review current status.

Variance Requests, Conditional/Interim Use Permits and Zoning Amendments

Variance requests are heard monthly by the Board of Adjustment. Conditional/Interim Use Permits and Zoning Amendments are reviewed monthly by the Planning Commission and voted on by the Board of Commissioners. Application deadlines and dates for those meetings can be found here.

Wilson Township

Since 2013, Wilson Township has established their own Zoning Ordinance. Therefore, properties located within Wilson Township would complete the application process through Wilson Township. Applicants can contact the Planning and Zoning Administrator at:


Municipalities (cities) administer Planning and Zoning within their city limits. Contact city administrators for more information regarding permits. Winona County municipalities include: Altura, Dakota, Elba, Goodview, Lewiston, Minneiska, Minnesota City, Rollingstone, St Charles, Stockton, Utica, Winona and La Crescent.
