Maintaining Your Rain Garden

Overview

As rain gardens continue to grow in popularity and more and more are installed, it's important to remember that they are low-maintenance gardens, not no-maintenance gardens. While a rain garden is a beautiful addition to any yard its main function and purpose is to help manage stormwater. Regular maintenance of your rain garden is important to ensure it's functioning properly!

Winona County has developed a fun, educational video to describe what a rain garden is, show the ways it can be incorporated into your yard, and ultimately best practices for maintaining it. A special thanks go out to those who supported the project including Anoka Conservation District, the City of Winona, Capitol Region Watershed District, Blue Thumb, Winona County Soil and Water Conservation District, and MN GreenCorps.
